Home Education Learning Partnership
PDF Print E-mail
H.E.L.P. is a Christian nonprofit which partners with the home educating family to provide resources and to enhance, strengthen, and maximize opportunities through tutorial and corporate learning experiences. As a learning partnership, it is our desire to come alongside the home educating family to strengthen them in this weighty task. We are not a private school. We offer a corporate learning experience, pace setting, and outside accountability to enhance your home program. We wish only to enhance and compliment the many things you are already doing in your home. We see our role as “lighting of a fire” for learning.  Your involvement in “fanning the flame” throughout the week is imperative to maximize the impact on your child’s learning experience.

A Radio Message from our Director

HELP is offering testing on Wednesday, March 24 and Thursday, March 25th on the West Ashley campus.

We offer this service to families outside of HELP as well so tell your friends.

IMPORTANT: Summerville campus families: The Flowertown Festival is going to close the roads surrounding Bethany on Wednesday, March 24. Therefore, we invite all Summerville families to join us on the West Ashley campus on Tuesday, March 23rd for that week of class. This will allow you to take advantage of this testing opportunity as well.Dr. Blauch's Physical Science class is the only class that is not offered on the Summerville campus. We are still working toward that solution.

In the meantime, mark your calendars for testing with HELP on March 24 and March 25, 2010. More details to come.

Important Registration Information for HELP classes:

Who can register for H.E.L.P. classes?

H.E.L.P. registration is available to families who choose to traditionally homeschool all of their children as well as those families who may choose to traditionally homeschool some of their children while choosing traditional public or private education for one or more of their children.
At this time H.E.L.P. registration is not open to families who choose to use Virtual Charter Schools for some children while homeschooling some of their other children. Virtual Charter Schooling is relatively new to the educational world. We are studying this educational model while inviting comment from the experiences of others in order to form an opinion as to its ramifications.  At the time of 2009-2010 registration, we have not yet solidified our decision.

New Students entering our program in 7th–12th Grade Classes

We require parents to complete one year of home educating before fully utilizing our program. We are committed to helping the home-educating parent in areas in which the parent has identified needing our assistance.  This first year is the time to identify those needs.  One to two core classes per student may be extended to the family at the director’s discretion during this transition period.

Entry Interview for 7th – 12th grade students

Beginning in the 7th grade, accountability increases in class work and homework.  For this reason, an interview is required to be able to thoroughly outline the academic commitment required and determine the family’s willingness and ability to commit.

Any new student entering 7th or above classes, along with one or both parents, must successfully complete an entry interview before registration is processed.

Schedule your entry interview if you are registering a 7th -12th grade student for the first time.  Returning 7th-12th grade students are not required to interview. Interviews times must be reserved in advance.  To schedule an interview, email the director, This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .  Interviews are scheduled at 15 minute intervals.

E-mail and Word Processing

While Jr. High and High School Classes require word processing skill and e-mail availability, it is highly recommended that every family have email availability.

Study Skills Plus

Students entering High School classes at H.E.L.P. are required to complete a one-day Study Skills Workshop in the summer. The student must sign up for this workshop at Orientation.
